:D

Hi All,
I've just read a thread regarding the mixing of chicken breeds. It seems that's okay. Just wondering if you have roosters in your flock.

Hi BJinNC

Welcome :D

I did have a one male in with my females until earlier this year and I know of some one who had 3/4 in with their females :)

Think it all depends on if you have enough girls to keep them happy

Hello, got a cousin in NC say hello for me please
Anyway, I have a very mixed flock, from Orpingtons down to Barbu d'Anvers   there are also bantams in there as well as regular chooks. Quite a few cockerels which, at the moment, isnt a problem but I suspect there may be a few arguments in spring so I shall make sure there are enough hens
Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most!!

I find you can mix cockerels if they have been brought up together eg. brothers. It helps if you have an older established cock in there as well to act as a policeman. I wouldn't put a new cock in with an already established boy and his hens as they will porbably fight over the hens. :?

I have one cockerel in with 4 females - 1 he was brought up with and 3 that I bought from different places - 1 is a bantam - they all get on fine - well he is VERY happy - they suffer for 5 seconds a day!

They are all still laying well - except for the bantam which has never started from April!!
