Just been out today and bought all but one variety. This year I'm growing:

FE: Lady Christl (fantastic crops last year, lovely flavour and nice waxy yellow salad potato)
SE: Charlotte (as above)
SE: Kestrel (decided to give these ago again this year)
SE: Vivaldi (but I'm going to leave them in and treat them like a maincrop)
SE: Anya (probably going to treat these like a maincrop)
MC: Picasso

I got one of the offers from T&M: 6 types of spud, 20 tubers of each. Am a little concerned there may be too many potatoes for 2 people!

FE: Rocket & Arran Pilot
SE: Kestrel & Charlotte
MC: Desiree & Pink Fir Apple

They've been chitting now for about 3 and a half weeks.

I'm going to put the majority into the ground, but going to do 2-3 30L pots per variety spread between my plot and my garden.

I grew potatoes in sacks last year for the first time, and they went well, but I harvested all 4 bags too early. The moral of the story this year is to hold my nerve!

Charlottes because they are an ace potato, grow well, tasty as new potatoes and still good when bigger.

Epicure as I fell for the advertising that they too are tasty. We'll see. Apparently should be planted end of February...not sure my clay beds are ready for that...

There I was, happy that I had not gone overboard with seed potatoes this year (just some Charlottes and Sharpe's Express) but this morning I popped into our allotment trading hut and a bag of Lady Christl called to me... ::) I haven't grown them before but they get a good write-up on this forum so I couldn't resist  :nowink:

Have grown second early Nicola for the last few years. Does well in clay, keeps for ages in storage (still eating them) and minimal slug damage. Will probably be rubbish this year now that I've said that.....also ordered potato planting kits with first earlies but can't remember what.
