I tried onions from seed for the first time this year - sown in January.  Was pleased with the results overall as a total novice growing from seed.

I tried Ailsa Craig and Bedfordshire Champion, grown singly, in clumps and also in buckets - a mix of  eating as greens and growing on. 

I would be happy to grow these varieties again, this time knowing that Bedfordshires are better storers.  Though, we've munched our way through most of them already!

Ideally, I'd like to try a new variety to grow on and store.  I would really welcome any recommendations.

I tried onion seeds from Marshalls called Marco and they have done exceptionally well. They are very solid and look like they will keep well. Not a large onion but that's what I was looking for.
