Ginger ranger Dora died Tuesday, I thought was Sour crop and had been emptying liquid from her crop for four days. She lost loads of weight, stopped eating, only drinking, but vet put her to sleep as she was so weak and had temperature. Vet said probably peritinitis as she hadn't been laying properly formed eggs for some weeks.
Kate, a pied hybrid is now left on her own and hasn't touched her mash, corn or even a strawberry for two days.She will rummage around the garden, but not very interested in much. She is however still laying. Is she just lonely and missing Dora or could she be poorly too?
Both of them had been wormed twice this year (Flubenvet).
 I plan to get two more chooks by Saturday.

they can pine for their best friend, but also even though they like company they can also reject any newcomers. You could try getting her a few new playmates (youngish ones) but be aware that she will usually want to let them know that she is the top hen so be on hand with wound powder and purple spray

It usually helps to add extra feeding and watering stations just until things settle down.
