I have some blueberries and redcurrants in my fruit cage. Over the last few days there has been a thrush getting in and helping itself to the berries.  I have checked all round the cage and cannot see where it is coming in. I keep letting it out and a few hours later it is back in there!!

Does anyone have any ideas how it might be getting in and whether there is anything else I can do to stop it wanting to go into the cage and eating the berries

Simple, theres a hole. Somewhere. I have a similar problem with small birds getting into my covered chicken enclosure. Theres a small hole about 2 inch diameter where the top of the coop has rubbed the netting.

Thrushes eat snails and usually have an 'anvil' somewhere in the garden - ie a rock they break the snails shells on. Its quite likely the hole is low to the ground where you havent seen it, look for a rock nearby with snail shells on it and if you find one loook at the netting closest to that rock

The only way to stop them wanting to go in for the fruit is to not grow fruit!

I have seen them bouncing on my netting till thay force a way in, usually where the nets

meet. than of cause you cannot see where they got in.
