Anyone growing kidney beans?
« on: August 05, 2012, 19:26 »
My daughter gave me some plants she bought from their local garden centre and I have duly planted them against a cane wigwam.

I also planted some yellw flat bean seeds on the same wigwam.

There are a lot of flat green pods, about six-eight inches long, not like runner bean pods at all but more like flat climbing beans.

I have tried googling images which did not help

So... does anyone know if the pods of kidney beans are completely flat to start with?

I've grown some yellow flat climbing beans (Goldfield or similar variety) and they only turn yellow at the end as they ripen.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

Aha! Thank you very much. The only thing is that these ones are not climbing beans and mine are - they are up at the top of the poles already.

I didn't think they could be the yellow flat ones not yet turned colour, as I have grown them before and they are yellow from the beginning, but I have from time to time had the wrong seeds in a packet, so wriied they might be a green version to start with.

Perhaps they are a climbing falt bean used for kidney beans though -- sounds promising  :D
