I don't know whether you should replant undeveloped garlic for next year, but I do know that when I was clearing a bed last year, I found several undeveloped bulbs, not much more than a fat clove and long green stem, I just shoved them straight in another bed and forgot about them and they did develop into decent bulbs this year. :)

According to Medwyn (him of the giant onion's etc) at the first sign of rust smear some petroleum jelly on it. It seal's the rust spores in so they cannot infect nearby plant's.

and d'you know what? When I was told this and asked about it on here, lots of people laughed at me. If it is good enough for Medwyn...... I will incorporate this into my leek and garlic foliar health programme from this weekend on. Not as any sort of cure you understand  :)

well it sounds like its worth a try then ann but will still keep myself covered by getting some fresh stock as well --- everbody should have a plan b if not in my case a plan c & d just to be on the safe side hee hee !  ;)

It's not really a good idea to plant supermarket garlic because you may be importing Onion White Rot  That would mean the end of onion growing on your plot!
Personally, I don't think it's worth the risk for the sake of a few pounds spent on buying proper seed.

Of course - if you are growing in pots n tubs it doesn't matter  :D

I am going to chance replanting the ones that didn't develop and see how I get on.  I have also ordered some from a reputible dealer so hopefully both Plan A and B work next year and I end up with a glut.
