I do enjoy a good furtle.

My Maris bards have been on the go 17 weeks now, and are still not up to a lot. Flowers have dropped, but foliage is still lively. Furtling was disappointing. MY second earlies, Kestrel and British queen are doing better with some decent sized spuds evident after 15 weeks. The maincrops are doing brill with good sized spuds there already after only 15 weeks. The world is upside down.

Onion seed I set in March are still not big enough to make a decent spring onion. Onion sets are just starting to bulk up. Carrots still slow. Parsnips look happy.

Fertling for spuds is cetainly variable this year Tayty  ::)  At least your second earlies and mains are looking promising  :)

I only had a few earlies but they were not up to much.  I planted 5 Anya tubers as well and only 3 came up so was scowling at them, but when I harvested them last weekend, got a great crop off just those few plants  :D

Do Anya taste good as well ? I keep dithering over them as the 'write-ups' are usually good (for all varieties  ::):D

Anya have a unique taste and texture, we like it but it's not an ordinary potato. I think it's a pink fir apple x charlotte.

They often sell them in Sainsbury's (they were named after Lady Sainsbury I believe) so you could try some first.

We had a huge yield from them last year, interestingly this year also had 2 plants with a very poor yield but the others were fine.

It is a lovely salad potato and roasts well  :)  You can taste the pink fir apple heritage.  I've grown them before and got lots of small tubers, but this year have got great big tubers and they were growing in a horrible bit of really claggy clay soil on my plot  :D

I think they have actually enjoyed the rain so back to the damp claggy spots of the plot for them next year  ;)

I will try but don't have any damp claggy spots to grow them, it's sandy here.
It'll have to be next to the waterbutt for them then
