Anyone grow radicchio?
« on: June 19, 2012, 15:48 »
I just bought some seeds to try and see it's a perenial?!

If you grow it where abouts on the plot does it prefer?

How big are the plants and does it just keep producing the hearts year after year that you cut off?

I'm wondering where best to sow it?

Cheers

Wikipedia:If the head is cut off complete, just above the root, a small, new head will grow, especially if minimal frost protection is given. This process can be repeated a number of times.

Most cabbages will do the same as this but it's a very slow process, I just grow mine to cut and pull out, the same as cabbages :D
It's about the same size as a cabbage as well.

I prefer to grow it as a winter salad and pick it young as cut and come again.
