I'm very important. I have many leather-bound books and my apartment smells of rich mahogany.

Well I love a kitchen gadget and used to have one.

They work really well but then there is the faff of drying all the bits and then storage space. Mine got left at the back of the cupboard and then to the charity shop.

I give my salad a quick flap by hand and then leave it to drain on a teatowel.

I use mine to spin peas/beans that have been blanched before they go in the freezer :)
What an excellent idea Mum,thanks for that.  :D

It would be worth finding house room for just that reason --- I never seem to have enough tea towels come bean freezing season

... help dry your lettuce leaves after you have washed them.

Why wash them ? Can't say I bother washing mine.

Oooooo, I think we should wash them, we don't know if any nasty rodents have been nearby.

Also, I like to make sure I have washed off any slug pellets that might be lurking.

Don't want to poison anyone. :(

My mother had a salad spinner and wanted me to have one - it became a minor point of contention because I didn't want one! They do work brilliantly, but also take up room which was what I didn't have. I just wash the lettuce before I do anything else and leave it to drain in a colander and it suits me fine! (I may just have three colanders which I suppose take up space too....)

I nicked my mother's small spinner  ::) :D
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

I had a mini one when I was on my own, swapped it with Mum when she was on her own and I wasn't.

Wonder where it is?  :unsure:Must check next time I visit sis. (Mum lived with her when she died) Now you've reminded me I want it back! :)

I got one from Lakeland ages ago.  I confess I was more intrigued by the fact that you stick the lid on and then press the button on the top to make it whizz round - reminded me of the old fashioned spinning tops that used to hum if you got it up to a good speed.  Useful, amusing but sadly no humming...

Sounds like Lardman prefers his lettuce crunchy with a foreign flavour  ;) :D

That is a brilliant tip,  I would never of thought of doing that.  And for me - the salad spinner is a definite must have,  I just don't like the soggy tea towel thing!!!

I invested in a Lidl's one this year and really pleased with it. Always ended up using half a roll of kitchen towel before which wasn't very economic. Definitely worth it if you can pick it up cheaply.

I can't honestly say I'm that bothered by a few drops of water on my lettuce :)

Quick shake in the colander is enough for me.
