I sowed some broccoli seeds in the greenhouse and they sprouted and grew just fine. I planted them out in early April and covered them with bottle cloches. I took the cloches off three weeks ago as it wasn't very cold and they were filling the bottles right up.

I had to go away for a fortnight, and when I got back I found that a few of the plants have their largest leaves turning white at the edges with a few mottled white marks towards the middle of the leaves.

Does anyone know what this is? Is it a disease, effects of cold or poor nutrients/pH? I'm really new to allotmenteering and was really proud that the plants were coming on well. I don't want to lose them!

Id say they were burnt by the sun, magnified through the bottle if they were touching the sides.
Brassicas dont need any protection temperature wise if hardened off properly.
