boo hoo hoo - can I start toms off again?
« on: May 08, 2012, 17:01 »
all my tom plants ruined by stupidity (moi taking a tumble in the greenhouse and knocking the relevant pots flying - smashing them to bits) Don't worry, the greenhouse and moi are still in one piece.  :nowink: Anyway, is there any point in my starting from seed again? boo hoo hoo  :(
small, Welsh and almost certainly bonkers, but can be tamed with Talisker, if required

Oh dear  :(

It's a bit late to start again I think.  Can you buy some plants from a good nursery ?

Give some of these a ring.

fanks Auntiemogs - I shall certainly survive, but it really is annoying after an already difficult start to the season. grr.

are you sure your toms arn't salvageable - they root from the stems very easily ( only problem is that you wont know the varieties of the toms until they produce fruit)

You can always root the tops of the plants in water, it don't take long for them to root  ;)

What about buying half as many plants as you need and rooting some of the side shoots to make up the rest. Save a bit of money and they catch up really quickly.

Elbows really hurt when you knock them dont they. :(

Just seen mums post, thats a good idea and would save even more money.

I only sowed my toms yesterday so am definitely hoping it's not too late!
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

I'd do cuttings and also go and buy some whilst they are still in the shops, just to be on the safe side.

Poor you with a poorly elbow  -  very very lucky it was only that after falling in a greenhouse :nowink:
