I'm intending to grow Savoy Cabbage to crop over winter, when would I need to start them and how?

Being cautious after previous brassica experience.

I suppose when you sow depends on the variety. There are one or two savoy varieties about

Sown mine about June last year and they ended up OK but the heads were a bit small.

Sown this years ones last weekend.  Hopefully give them a bit longer in the ground.
