Update:- I pricked out my Leeks has suggested by DD they look great and are ready to plant out.
Is there any reason why I can't remove them from thier compost and take them to the plot bare rooted?

Have they been hardened off yet?

It's always best to transplant bare-rooted plants immediately to minimise the shock and avoid the risk of drying the roots (which could happen quickly unless you are very careful.)

I took the early leeks to the plot with their roots well wrapped in wet newspaper, and they were fine

The ground was ready though... just had to make the holes 

They wouldn't have liked hanging around

They've not been in the greenhouse for 6 weeks or more. They are between biro and little finger size and some are 10'' tall, should've gone in last weekend but the weather's been dreadful.

About 6 weeks ago mine was like grass planted in a standard seed tray, on DD's advice I transplanted into a tray about 6'' deep filled with growbag compost. Bingo.

Have a look back through this thread there is a link on a DD post. I have started more using this method and they are nearly there at 6 weeks.
