« on: April 16, 2012, 18:13 »
Can someone just check I'd got this about right.

Some carrots
An onion
A Potato
1 chicken stock cube
Some coriander powder
Top up with water.

Stuff in slow cooker overnight, blend then eat for lunch with a fresh roll.

These are my ingredients, but its only cooked for 20 minutes...

1 tbsp vegetable oil
1 onion , peeled and chopped
1 tsp ground coriander
1 potato , peeled and chopped
450g carrots , peeled and chopped
1.2l vegetable or chicken stock
handful coriander chopped (about ½ a supermarket packet)

So yes, your ingredients do look right, let us know how it is cooked for a long time.

Add some peeling and chopping....

Ta.

Bought a HUGGGEEE bag of carrots from trashco today - 30p/K seemed rude not to so plenty for experiments  :D  I did ask Mum but she went on about cream and celery and other things never likely to be found in my kitchen

How did it turn out Lardy? You can add orange juice to it for a sweeter flavour too if you like. Hope it was yum, I've got some minestrone on for lunchtime - gone back to soup weather here - must get on with the cleaning!

What did you do to compensate for the lack of flavour in the el cheapo carrots? When I made my soup you could smell them a mile off, and that was just during preparation!
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

How did it turn out Lardy?

I checked around 1am and the carrots were still very firm.  Not sure what its like this morning, I haven't made it to the kitchen yet (I hate working for a living !)

My secret weapon - FUBAR taste-buds  :D Good carrots are for eating raw.

I'll be interested to hear if it doesn't taste, well for want of a better description stewed. As I noted earlier, mine is cooked for 20 minutes and is fresh and zingy tasting. :) Same with my minestrone but maybe that can't be descibed as zingy...

Just been and had a slurp - stewed is a fair description, although I haven't mushed it up yet, also very salty and needing more coriander. I'll rescue it with stuff from the spice cupboard at lunch time.

If you had to eat my cooking you'd be glad of them too
