Hi there!

Dug up all our spuds to find infested with ?cutworm pale long maggoty things.(uggh!)Wondered if there is anything I could do to prevent them next year? I know a little protein is good for you but these are a bit off-putting :?  :?

Or could be wireworm.  Were the tatties planted on land which was previously in grass?

you need to get some bonfires going on the soil or use a chemical treatment  :(

Me too.  They are pale, a couple of inches long and have antennae.  My plot has never been under grass. :cry:

Cheers - yes we dug up part of the garden this year after taking the grass off then made raised beds. The potaotoes were chitted then planted end March I think. Not a great size though.
Munty - bonfire would be fun - unfortunately the shed would also go up -not so fun  :oops: !!! Dont like chemicals :x  but might have to resort to them - what sort what I need? Many thanks!!

Well Fox, it's a pain on the list, but if you are patient most of these grubs just disappear after 2-3 years of cultivation. :)

Whatever is  up with Ice's potatoes that's another matter, beyond me knowledge. :roll:
