advice for first time veg garden
« on: March 15, 2012, 14:02 »
Last weekend I planted 9 different seeds and watered well.  Other than watering and watching out for slugs and snails should i be doing anything else right now?  Is there any feed that i can put down or any type fertilisers that will help?

Cheers

There is another bit of this site http://www.allotment-garden.org/garden_month.php that tells you what you can be getting on with each month. A good place to start.

Seeds don't need, and in fact dislike, too much fertiliser so leave them alone apart from watering and anti-slug measures (assuming they're OK for temperature and light).
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

May we ask what seeds they were and where you have them?

These things are fairly crucial to any advice that can be given!
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

They were:

Peas
French Dwarf Beans
Radishes
Beetroot
Spring Onions
Carrots
Lettuce

Plus onion sets and sead potato

The only seed that didn't come up were the dwarf beans, but I grew 5 in the greenhouse and have now planted these as well.
