What's best preparation for onions?
i'm planting them soon and was wondering is there something that they love to have in the soil before i plant and even after?

I use chicken manure pellets on mine, they seemed to like it last year. The onions I grew from seed weighed in at around 2 1/2 - 3 lb each.

yeh but what variety where they DD? where they supposed to grow that big.
id also agree with DD, a general fertiliser is all that is needed, either BFB, growmore or chicken pellets will do the trick.

All the old boys up the plot just put a good bed of manure down for them, they get good onions too, best bit is that you dont have to pay for manure if you know somebody or just ask a farmer.

Edited to correct spelling of "manure" for search purposes
