i have a duck that has been attacked by a fox .. taken her to vet and he operated on her .. he has given her baytril and metacam ... been told not to eat her eggs again .. does anyone know about these meds in birds pls ... thanks for reading ..

some vets do say never eat the eggs after using Baytril as I don't think it is licensed for poultry however I do know others will say wait one month from the end of the treatment before eating the eggs. But whatever you decide make sure you don't sell her eggs.

we dont sell the eggs we eat them ourselves .. we got 2 layers so gonna be difficult to know which is which ... she indoors for 2 weeks for now anyway to recover and wait for stitches to be removed ... thank you for your answer xx

luckily for me my vet never prescribes this antibiotic for my poultry, in future ask your vet for another type such as Tylan, Aureomycin, Deneguard - if they will treat the illness then the egg withdrawal is manageable.

i will thank you .. he is the only vet in the area to even let me in their door with my birds ... the others wont give me the time of day ..
