Help!! Hens eating meat???

Help!! Hens eating meat???

I'm sure I have read some where that hens are NOT supposed to eat meat? Only one of my hens is running around the garden with a frog in her beak. She has been eating it and I can't get it off her. Will it cause her any harm? Will it have any effect on her eggs?

they are not herbivores but omnivores so mice, frogs, worms, spiders, insects, slugs and snails are normal food for them  :D. The eggs will be fine  :)

My girls didn't bother with frogs last year but I am dreading when they come in the garden heading for the pond for spawning in case they will like them now they are grown up!!  :wub:

Mine will eat anything they can catch!

However i still do stick to my own rule of not feeding them meat food scraps.  Im not sure if im being over cautious or not but i dont give them left owver meaty bits.

I don't give my girls meat from the kitchen but have been advised to give them non poultry cat food during the winter to keep them healthy, they love it!
