Have any of you heard of borage being used like comfrey to make a liquid feed?I can`t find anything on here,but I listen to the Irish gardening program from the BBC and one of the experts there said they rot the leaves down but it makes a different mixture from comfrey.

Any ideas please?I can grow borage like a weed here ,so it would be very handy!

Thanks mumofstig,articles that like certainly help.
I suppose I am looking to make an appropriate feed for each type of plant,an NPK rating on each feed.It annoys me that I can`t just accept a blanket answer to a problem.Maybe it`s a price I pay for realising I know so very little even as I learn more!!

I`m now reading even dandelion and strawberry leaves can be rotted down successfully for feed.This is something I was going to quickly arrange  for this year,now it looks like I have a fortnights research,lol.

Blimey, I think there's more productive things you can be doing than spending your life worrying about NPK ratios.

My plants get whatever happens to be laying around that the time, anything from chicken manure, though horse manure & Growmore, to Tesc* generic tomato feed.

Your veggies will grow with very little in the way of human intervention, they're programmed that way you see 

Any rotting veg matter, diluted to the colour of weak tea, will do I suppose. Comfrey is excellent stuff though as is nettle

Gardening is supposed to be a great stress reliever, but not if you get too wound up about NPK ratios, crop rotation etc.!

Oh absolutely! The thought of NPK and crop rotation sends me to sleep immediately
