do not feed raw potatoes, people have been known to boil them up before giving them to chickens. However any food scraps technically should not be given to chickens if you look on the Defra website:-

people have fed scraps of food to chucks for years, but should only be fed as a treat, potato peelings should always be boild, i always mix layers mash with mine so i know they are getting the goodness they need to stay healthy, but try to keep treats to a minnimum once every couple of days or so, as already stated you shouldnt feed citrus fruit as it will cause crop problems.
As joyful said DEFRA   state you shouldnt feed scraps of food to any farm animal ? I think this  stupid rule was intended to stop farmers feeding meat products to there livestock,

Tony, you and many others may consider it a stupid rule but it is there for a reason. We cannot advocate anybody breaks this rule on this forum. I grow veg just for my chickens which doesn't see the inside of my house - tomatoes, sweetcorn etc.

I understand that food from cattering kitchens could contain animal products, but if you cook your own food in your own kitchen and you know it has had no contact with any kind of animal product then why cant you use it ? Thats the part of the i feel is daft i know that the reason for the rule was to prevent cross contamination of animal products and in this day and age we need rules like that to prevent things l*ike foot and mouth, -I have e-mailed defra asking them for some clarification on the rule regarding the pet chuck
