Stupid Broody Question

My hens are all around 4 years old and have gone off the lay.  I think they won't be laying anymore as the last eggs they laid were few and far between and all lashers and such.  My question is, if a hen is not actively laying, can she still get broody? 

Thanks, New Shoot! I guess you are saying that it is the luck of the draw.  I think the best thing for me to do is just buy some POLs this Spring to boost up the flock a bit.   :blink:
