Can I freeze Certo liquid pectin?
« on: November 26, 2011, 14:50 »
I had a slight panic the other day as I realised something I'd made hadn't set, so I dashed out and bought a bottle of Certo.  I only needed a couple of tablespoons, and won't be needing to use it again within the fourteen days stipulated on the bottle.  It's currently in the fridge - does anyone know if I can freeze it?  I thought I could put it in an ice cube tray if so...

I never use liquid pectin, but judging by the following article on home made pectin, I'm guessing that you can freeze store pectin.

Wow, thankyou for that Trillium. Our local Trashco doesn't stock pectin (as I found the other day when my blackberry jelly wouldn't set  >:() ) so Ill know what to do now!  :)

Thanks Trillium - I'll give it a go.  Unfortunately the supermarket I use doesn't stock the powdered stuff, hence the very expensive Certo!

Had a reply from a question I sent to British Sugar (manufacturers of Certo).  They said you can freeze it, so I'll be doing just that!
