I'm thinking of trying some climbing peas next year, has anyone grown them yet? I gave up on peas last year as the return to space ratio was a bit silly. But...well I can imagine them growing like runner beans

Hi Judy, yes I tried Alderman for the first time this year.  they are supposed to grow to 5ft, but these went higher.  Also yield wasn't as great as the catalogue said, but that could be any reason.  Peas were lovely though, and they reckon Alderman have an extended growing period, but mine have finished now, in fact just put in some more I grew a few weeks back to see what happens, but they don't look happy!

But it is nice picking them like runner beans instead of on the floor!!!!

I grew some Ezetha's Krombek Blauwschok mange tout last year which climbed quite tall and caught the eye with their pink flowers and purple pods, sadly the flavour wasn't brilliant so didn't repeat the experience this year.
