Guessing that my Chicks are 16 weeks old now.
Light Sussex

3 of them have tail feathers and generally smaller.
The other 4 are bigger and round bottomed I presume these are cocks.

If it was this easy that would be it. However I have read an been told that this breed the chicks are silver (cocks) Gold(hens). This makes them all cocks by this method.

Can anyone advise or is it a case of taking photos n posting on here.

Need to know as want to know  how many for table at Christmas.    :?

Hi fluff, at 16 weeks old, the cocks should have bigger combs and wattles, also they should be getting a sickle shaped tail, they are only sex linked when crossed with r.i.reds.

It'd be great to see some photos, I've got 3 light sussex bantam chicks younger than yours and I've got ideas on which are hens (2) and which is a cock (1).  I was going on comb size but hearing that they are difficult to sex, now I'm not so sure!
The way they square up to each other I'm starting to wonder if they are all cocks  :roll:

I was watching a programme one time (Worst Jobs In History - Tony Robinson I think) and they showed some east asian workers sexing 1 day old chicks simply by squirting their bums (to get rid of poo) and then looking underneath!!

They then throw the boys into one box and the girls into another one and hey presto!  Aparantly there's something like a 99.999% sucess rate with their judgement too!

Highly likely I got 3 POL Sussex and they were all Cock birds!! :cry:
