as mentioned before, i let my chickens out to free range on rota basis. i've just been to let the brahma girls out and one is looking a little strange. they are all going through the moult and i can see the new feathers coming through.

i've picked her up and she's nice and heavy, foraging with her sister and other two friends but her face is dark in colour - almost blue-ish. her wattles and tiny comb are still pink - not as vivid as the others but the skin around her eyes and cheek is definately dark.

are brahmas very prone to heart failure? is she not getting enough oxygen?

what can i do to help her? i just know that i'm not worrying for nothing. there definately something not right.

any ideas would be much appreciated.

it could be her heart, she may also need a vitamin B suppliment (if you don't have any vitamin drops with vit b in then give her a little bit of toast with thinly spread marmite on it - not the words little and thinly  ).

thanks for the advice joyful - will give it a go.

can you get powered vit b like you can get vit c for guinea pigs etc?

or (stupid question coming) do you use human vit b supplements?
