first year of growing and was wondering what(if anything) can be planted now? to be ready for Christmas maybe? sorry ifvthats a silly question but i am a complete beginner!!

All the winter veg needed to be sown earlier in the year

you can put some potatoes in bags if you have somewhere frost free for them and they will be ready December, otherwise herbs again indoors.  If you want to plant outside you can put onions and garlic in now ready for next summer (I never bother as I have had success planting them in spring)

Some garden centres stock plug plants of spring cabbage, kale ect that can be planted now, and you can just squeeze in spring onions, spinach, turnip and winter radish now from seed, if you are reasonably far south

Spinach can be planted now and broad beans. Doubt they will be ready for Christmas though!
