Courgette failure.
« on: August 24, 2011, 12:04 »
Thought you lot might want a laugh.

This is 1 of my 5 courgette plants (and a few weeds) It will shortly be going to the big courgette farm in the sky having not produced 1 fruit yet this year.

I know its been drier than a dry thing in a driery this year but failing with courgettes ! :nowink: Shameful.

Mine are similar. I got 1 and a half tiny courgettes from one of the 4 plants that grew. One is still titchy, the others are very lush and green. As advised on here, I cut back one of them so there are only 5 or 6 leaves on it - I'll see how that went this evening...

Moi aussi.  I only had the two plants but both produced nothing.

Two of my plants didn't produce anything this year, I thought it was some duff seed but maybe not?

This year with courgettes I have performed like a complete beginner (who had been trained by another beginner who was so very much only just beginning he had hardly begun!!   ::)

Started off with my trusty packet of seeds which in fact were so old they were no longer trusty. Only just managed to get 3 seeds germinated out of about 15!

Lost one of the 3 to slugs once planted outside, leaving 2 (the absolute bare minumum.)
Despite growing them in the same small raised bed I've used for 10 years I managed to plant them such that one was almost completely shading the other (I've had about 12 courgettes so far but 10 of them have come from the plant nearest the light!)  :nowink:
Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!

One of the best things about being an orang-utan is the fact that you don't lose your good looks as you get older

You are quite welcome to come and help yourself to as many as you want  :)

I've grown Seeds of Italy's Romanesco variety again this year, and think that 3 plants is possibly 2 too many  :)

Good seeds but dodgy weather for many of us I'm afraid. :( 5 courgettes so far from 11 plants here although they are still trying, bless them.  :nowink: And don't mention the fantastic floral display we're getting from the tomatoes!

Make sure your Essex neighbours know your thoughts! Do a forum search on who's had trouble with courgettes and toms this year!  :tongue2:
