Potato haulms-leave on or take off?
« on: July 24, 2011, 08:43 »
:)I have some Wilja and Kestrel second earlies which are about ready and haulms dying back-do I cut them off and leave for a week or so before unearthing-whats the best practise here?
. These keep well despite not being main crop and local commercially grown ones are stored and sold right through to the new year.-so good advice sought/cheers

Some do cut them back, some don't. Personally I never have, I think it's more of a blight thing to make sure the spores don't get onto your spuds.

Good advice here:

I grow Kestrel as an early maincrop and find they store really well.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?
