One of my customers said to me this morning that she found a worm inside one of my eggs 

I went to get some flubenvet for the first time from the vet and there was a bit of a wait as they were trying to decide whether it was prescription only.  The nurse said that they felt there had been a change recently and they could only give it out now if they had seen a chicken.  Anyone else heard this?  I should say they did give it to me without seeing a chicken though!

Also, what do you do with your customers when treating?  I know there is no egg withdrawal period but do you tell them they are receiving flubenvet?  I am worried that another worm may be found but this is the last week I am selling them and I don't want to let my regular customers down!

The girls all seem fine and I had a quick look around at the poo but couldn't see any infestations!

And they sell it in places like 'Countrywide'. They take your name and address, but they don't need a prescription.

Even that site says it's a POM-VPS.
Prescription Only Medicine, from a Vet, Pharmacist or 'suitably qualified person'...so you really should have a script!

It should be dispensed by a person with a licence to sell medication - either a vet or stockist with a nominated person licenced to sell medicines. My Countrywide store sells it and you can buy it online with no problems at all.

we got ours from pets at home. but they have a vet surgery on site.

That is true, but "suitably qualified" just means someone who's attended a half day course (guessing) and has to parrot some verbage to you.

You dont need to take your chicken to the vet, but you do need to actualy talk to someone.

I got mine from Interhatch in Chesterfield. I called in for it but they do sell online too

What is a chalaza?  I haven't heard of that before.

The chalaza are the tiny white strands of egg white that anchor the yolk in place.  Could they have confused this for a worm?

however it is perfectly possible to get worms in an egg if the hen has an infestation
