Yes,

you may get away with some earlies as long as you don't want large ones

What about undercover polytunnel or greenhouse?

Sorry to contradict, but I've actually sown AK at this time of year and had good crops.

Keep them moist until germinated.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Ok, i'll be getting the half dustbin out filled with sandy compost and i'll go for it,
I can always move it into the green house later on.

I water once and cover with a piece of single wall pollycarb until they germinate, fingers crossed

Short ones can be sown now, the locals here say up to the end of July.

I'm doing just that too! Got some space, why not use it!

Yes.

Egg laying takes place in July/August. Some will develop into larvae, some will over-winter. Some say there's now 3 generations a year, not 2, so personally I protect my crop all the growing season.

Here's a useful fact sheet:

Thanks.

Looks as if the netting will be a 12-month feature in the garden, with flies, bugs and pigeons to contend with.

Ours will have to be short carrots, haven't enough spare compost to dig out a deep enough trench for long rooted ones.

Is there a 'best' short carrot for this time of year? And will they keep?
