I let my 5 x 8 weeks and 6days old chicks range for the first time today 

They slowly slowly catchy monkey'd their way out into the big wild garden. I no sooner did this and my broody, who i have seperate form all the others, ( 3 other big girls and the chicks) forced her way through a weak point in the fence to be with them 

She tottled over to have a look, pecked one just to make sure then went to make a brand new crator to bathe in 

I then decided to introduce Beth to the chicks. As she is the lowest in the pecking order i thought she would be grand with them. She went to have a real good look at them, even went into the babies run just to make sure. She came out and had a wander then very slyly wandered over and yanked at one of the chicks  TWICE  The little smiling assassin!!
I picked her up told her off and put her back with the others.

They did venture and were very easy to get back into their run. Fingers crossed it will always be like that
