hi all
im taking on a small strip of allotment next to mine,its full of weeds about 18in to 2ft high
im thinking {roundup} now, is it best to strim it first,or apply as it is .size it about 10mtrs by 3 mtrs,im intending to move all my soft fruit over to it ,rasp,red current ,strawberry ect

If you strim, the Roundup has no foliage to work through, on the other hand being so tall and I assume dense as well, it may not get to all of them.

I'd be inclined to strim, rake off the strimmings, let the weeds shoot back to a few inches, (I'm assuming they're perennials here) and then apply the Roundup.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

The weeds have to have actively growing leaves for it to work........so it's the regrowth after cutting that you need.

Certainly agree that strimming is the way to go. Leave about two inches and the rain we are getting will ensure some lush green regrowth which you can spray when it`s four to six inches high.

If cost of Roundup isn't excess I would strim but leave a bit (4" say) & spray, and then spray a few weeks later for whatever comes back.

If you have bindweed in there the first spray will do some good and the second spray some more good - I don't think a single spray does 100% job for the tougher weeds.
