Plant Hunt
« on: June 08, 2011, 09:25 »
I'm really excited I'm off too look for plant's for my new bed.I've got a list and I'm sticking to it ::).I want rose'rugul',geranium'psilostemon and Hosta fortuneii'Albomarginata' the rest of the bed will be annuals ,biennials and herbs that I've started from seed that include sunflowers, chives, foxgloves and forget me nots.o nearly forgot the echinacea 'paradoxa' from seed.

When i've planted these I've got a long list of bulbs that I'ii be looking for but I better not get ahead of myself. This is one of the bits of gardening I love the most even if it is expensive.

I'm off. Wish me luck.

Didn't get rosa I wanted but got 'warm wishes' which is similar.Three pots of London Pride magicaly appeared in my trolly as did a blackcurrant sage.I'd never seen one before ,the leaves really smell like blackcurrants so I had to have it.It would have been a shame not too.

More plants made their way home with me then planed so the carefull design has gone out of the window(again) I'll just have to shoehorn them in somewhere.

The London Pride looks really big and healthy ,would it be a good time to split it now?

I don't know whereabouts you are, so can't guess your weather
Where I am I wouldn't do it until autumn, because of the extra watering involved in keeping newly split plants alive through the summer.

I find it impossible to go to our local plant centre and just get what I went for - last weekend I popped in for 3 geraniums and a ginormous agapanthus found it's way into the trolley    but by 'eck it looks fab on the step!
