What is this???
« on: June 05, 2011, 16:40 »
This plant has sprung up in my garden.  I don't remember buying it or planting it.  When I but a new plant I usually keep the information that comes with it and I don't seem to have that.  Its got little furry type buds coming - I am just hoping its not a tree!  Any ideas??

Thank you

Almost looks a bit like a Mimosa leaf.

It looks very familiar but a bit too hefty for mimosa I would have thought.... I guess it would depend on the type.

Perchance it may be a bottlebrush plant? Maybe a new one?  Looks nice now!

looks rather like vetch to me  -  I have loads of solomans seal in the garden and it doesnt quite look like that.  Solomans S tends to gracefully arch over rather than grow straight up.

I think it's a Jacob's Ladder, which I think is Polymonium spp.

I was thinking it looked a little like Jacob's ladder, but my plant ID is regularly unreliable so I'm pleased to hear others suggesting it too!
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

Probably seeded by birds?
I've got some weird additions due to the berry/seed eating birds; a sort of bushy clump with little daisies (weed? camomile?) , hebe, hypericum, pyracantha, cotoneaster, mahonia.....all round the edge where they sit on the fence and poo.
And all the flowers attract bees as well as producing berries/seeds for the birds!
Ain't nature wonderful......
