Hello - seems I've got you wondering!!  I have 2 Jacobs ladder and this plant is much much bigger. Its 2-3 foot high and there is flower stem as on the Jacobs ladder.  So unless its a giant mutation I'm not thinking it is  ::) and my MIL has Soloman's seal and its not that the flower buds are in the wrong place for that

This photo might show what I assume are the flowers - on the left of the picture.   I have googled Vetch and think that looks close.  Should I post a photo when it blooms (if that is what it does)? ??Does anyone know a internet site for this sought of thing - besides this lovely site of course?

Thanks for your help  :)

Me plant is beginning to flower - only one out at the moment, pink and white.  In another day I should be able to get a picture.

Definitely not Solomon's Seal or Callistemon (Bottlebrush) as the leaves are wrong. By its size and leaf shape, I think a shrub belonging to the Mimosa family (or a very large Jacob's Ladder - mmm - not sure).
I work very hard so don't expect me to think as well.

Went to the BBC Gardners show today and met 2 lovely chaps on the RHS stand.  I showed them the photo and its a........

Baptisia australis  - otherwise known as False or Wild Indigo.   :D :D

They told me it was lovely plant to have and I was lucky, but I've just read it can get very big!!Its at the back of the border so it can stay and I'll see what it does.

Lucky me :)

However  ::)  if you google images of Baptisia the leaves look nothing like your pic.......Baptisia should have trifolate leaves, your plant doesn't

look at the RHS description & pic.

so.............................I'd still like to see pictures of it in flower, please   :nowink:

Any aroma clues from rubbing the leaves? They look a bit minty...

Could it be a Spiraea?
