I've got three 3 year old hens (White Star, Bluebelle and Magpie) and I'm going to get two more.
I would definitely like another White Star as Lulu regularly lays extra-large white eggs and she has a lovely cheeky character!
What hybrid do I need if I'm looking for either a large, very dark brown egg OR a large speckled egg, any colour?
I want to be able to tell who's laying out of the others and the Bluebelle's is a medium pale milky coffee, the Magpie a large mid brown.
I'd be very grateful for any advice!

If you want a dark brown egg, go for any Maran or Maran hybrid - although there is no guarantee that the eggs will be dark brown as constant cross breeding can water the colour down. It's best to ask the breeder to have a look at the eggs his girls are laying so you can decide.

The Columbines lay a bluey egg don't they?  Are they the ones that are part legbar?

I'm looking forward to our Bovans Whites laying their first eggs, they are the same as the Amber Stars, part leghorn  so will lay white eggs.  But they are only 8 weeks yet, so a bit of a wait yet!

I have one Columbine that lays a sky blue egg, the other lays an olive one!
