Bit early?
« on: April 19, 2011, 09:05 »
I was on the plot at the weekend when someone walked past me with a load of courgette plants to plant out!

Bearing in mind that we get frosts well into May here, seems a bit premature?  I haven't even sown mine yet (although I probably should get going!).

Lotty holder since Aug 09... I've FINALLY finished clearing it! On with the p.lanting  ....

My guess is that either they're a newbie (like me, who planted runner beans beginning of April because I didn't realise how fast they grew) or the warm weather we've had this spring has encouraged people to plant things out earlier than they normally would.

I planted my seeds at the weekend.  I wasn't going to do them until the end of April but I am so excited by my new polytunnel that I can't stop planting things and I had run out of things to plant so the courgettes "got it".
I always find that work gets in the way of life.

It seems a bit early, but they may survive under a cloche, or in the polutunnel until frosts are over or permanently if it's a big enough tunnel :)

planted my seeds today in pots. last year grew them too early and cold just stemmed their growth until it got warmer.

Haven't sown mine yet (but will do soon), They hate the cold, let alone frost!, so no point "going early" in my opinion.
