rabbits!!!
« on: April 18, 2011, 12:48 »
Hi,  I am just after a bit on info,  I planted quite a few cabbage plants on to my plot yesterday to find this morning thay have all been eatten by rabbits I think.  There is no sign of slugs and they have not eaten the rows of onions at the side of the.  What other veg do rabbits eat and what cheap ideas do people have to deter them before I go down the expensive chicken wire option.

Thanks

Assuming your plot is an allotment I'm sure other plotholders will know if there is a rabbit problem at the site.

If not, pigeons are the likely culprit; they can be kept at bay with relatively cheap netting, although you need to think about deterring cabbage white butterflies as well.
Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!

One of the best things about being an orang-utan is the fact that you don't lose your good looks as you get older
