I have planted a victoria plum tree and am very happy it suvvied its first winter as we had it so cold this time.
this is my first plum tree and today i noticed it seemd to be flowering.
is this right for plums?
i checked a neighbours and his is the same.
i wasnt sure about this as i expected leaves first

It is quite normal for fruit trees to flower before they are in leaf, or just as the leaves are unfolding.

Plums are  perfectly hardy - what they cannot tolerate is late frosts on the blossom, so fingers crossed from now on.

my beautiful victoria plum fan is in finest blossom this morning - just right as my daughter Victoria who bought for me as a gift has visited us today to see her mother.
