I am away in march and can I start aubs/chillis by end of march (very end)? I know toms can be started bit late. just the aubs/chillis am worried about.

Chillies and aubs both need a long growing season and are usually started off indoors from seed about now. Best to try and buy plants from a garden centre when you come back I would have thought.

You are much more likely to get away with sowing tomatoes late, although you might have to look up some green tomato chutney recipes come the end of the season!

I have to rely on a friend who doesnt even know how to spell "plants"... but he has got a conservatory...

Or buy plants at the garden centre when you are back? (Depends how many you need, cost-wise, and whether they are likely to have varieties you are interested in too)
