This year we want to have a go at growing ginger (in big pots). Anyone grown this before? When would be the best time to 'plant' it?

I thought this might have been a nice picture of a ginger cat
Self-sufficient in rasberries and bindweed. Slug pellets can be handy.

Thanks Mum, I've had a good look through but can't see if there is a good time to start growing it or not. Maybe it could start it off now, indoors?

It has to be kept frost-free and ideally a bit warmer...I'm sprouting a bit of root on top of a my lemon grass pot at the mo, will pop it in something biggish once it's growing, possible a plastic biscuit box so there's plenty of room for root to develop
