« on: November 10, 2010, 17:52 »
Hey All
Went to cull 2 cockerels tonight and i didnt go through with it ...

Cos i thought they were a little boney so i lift them allow for this week.

I heard oats and hole milk would fatten them up but the thing is they have been on finisher for 4wks now...

Do ya think iam expecting to much from them????

Oh also there 23wks old.

some purebreeds do not get that big until later. What breed are they?
Staffies are softer than you think.

As they aren't really meat breeds they are unlikely to fatten up they're just not bred for it. That was one of the reasons I went for a dual purpose breed  such as Light Sussex - then you have more options for the cockerels. It doesn't mean you can't eat them, it just means there will not be so much meat. ???
Experience is what you get when you didn't get what you wanted!!
