Soft egg shell

I know i've seen this on here but cannot remember what was advice, i have my first soft shell egg, is this safe to eat or not  ? and they have access to grit all day so what else do i do ?

You mention grit, do they also have Oyster shell in with it? If not any good feed merchant should be able to supply some for you. Yes you can eat the soft shelled egg but I tend to give them (on the rare occasions that they turn up) to my dogs or cats, I would recommend within 24 hours of it being laid as these eggs dehydrate very rapidly.

Just remembered you can also give your hens the occasional treat of some natural bio yoghurt and mix some cod live oil into their afternoon corn. Just enough to make the corn glisten. all good stuff.
