Hi,
I'm new to this forum but really need some help.
I have 4 brown hens, 2 are laying, and 2 Aylesbury ducks. One of my chickens has started hunching down and stamping her feet when i go into the coop. Has anyone experienced the same and is it something to worry about.?

Any advice would be very gratefully recieved.

this is because she sees you as the cockerel and is getting ready for you to mount her  .
She should be laying either now or very soon.
It is often referred to as the mating dance

You should take full advantage of her stooping and dancing to pick her up regularly. That way when you need to you willl be used to it and so will she.

This was the message our chicken man was determined for us to know!

We make sure that we still do this, using treats to reinforce our status as the Big Provider and all of our chickens let us both pick them up and check them over.
