Hello Chloe,
I have Light Sussex bantams that lay well and I think look very beautiful.  I will try to post a picture later.  I am sure you will have loads of other suggestions from people here!  Good luck and I hope you enjoy your new girls whatever you decide.  :)

silkies are lovely but go broody at the drop of an egg, sable poots are gorgeous but not good layers, araucanas lay blue/green eggs but can dominate other birds, leghorns aren't bad layers of white eggs, appenzellers also lay white eggs and are very pretty, in fact there are so many to chose from. Personally I would get either 3 different breeds or 3 all the same and not 2 of one and 1 of another  :)
Staffies are softer than you think.

Get three Pekins.... so many colours to choose from you can never get bored.... pretty good layers too if you keep them from being broody :)
I love Pekins, Polands and Seramas :) and eggs!!!

I'm taking in the aesthetic value they make to my garden, eggs will be a bonus :D :D :D

Anyway, you know I take every opportunity to talk about them ::)
