I am glad to say after alot of research and talking to a vet that knows about chickens that henny is no longer limping - turns out it looks like it was a sprain.  Some people suggested separating her from the rest of them but this can distress them more - the rain has helped as she has just sat underneath and placed her food and water near her so she could rest properly - so all in all good news woo hoo
