Hiya,

Well my four chooks love the rain, they seem to get all the little bugs out of the grass.  :tongue2:

Im not too sure whether they get colds, but Im sure they are sensible enough to go back indoors if the get too wet  ;)

Sometimes mine have done, sometimes not. Recently, after a very hot spot, we had a great shower, and they all just stood out in it, heads pointing upwards, just loving the feel of the water.
Other times, they have run for shelter at the first sign of a downpour. Its how the mood takes them I think!!

Mine don't seem to mind getting soaked and don't seem to suffer any harm from it.
They sometimes look terribly bedraggled and go to bed soaking. They have the greenhouse to shelter in if they want.

Mine do the same, come out, get wet then have 5 mins sheltering under the patio table, then back out for a scratch about. Ours don't seem to mind it.

It depends what mood ours are in.

Sometimes they will shelter under the hedge, or go back into the covered run, other times they wont be bothered and carry on regardless scratching away getting soaked and just not caring.

If it's windy with the rain they are more likely to seek shelter.

they come from the forests where they get wet naturally, my first ones would not go out if there was the nint of rain, the hybrids we now have never go in, they stand in the rain and dig for worms.

Hi. Not really a silly questin. Rain can be harmful, but not normally to adult birds unless it is prolongued cold winter rain. I have birds that live outside all the year round.
Obviously your birds need to be healthy to start with, and fully feathered. Birds with very large combs suffer from frostbite and should be kept inside on winter nights, and of course unfledged chicks should always have shelter. But in general chicken are pretty hardy creatures and there are always more problems with over pampering than under.
