oh ok,I was just asking because I was told my chickens were molting because some of them are missing feathers...it's pretty much all on their backs.

mine hate maggots I give Mealworms they are expensive nut they would kill for them.  You can get dried ones if live wigglers puts you off

Mealworms a pretty easy to breed your own, just put them in a large jar of oats, cover with musilin and give them the odd bit of carrot for mousiture. They soon start breeding.

They do need a bit of extra protein - ( I feed dogfood shhhhh 8) ) and will go off lay.

If the feathers are missing from the backs - could also be an overenthusiastic cockerel - some of our girls looking decidedly bare.

Trim and file down spurs if you have a cockerel running with them.
